Mercedes-Benz Trucks has announced that IAA Transportation 2022 in Hanover will be the destination for its latest truck launch.
The company’s eActros LongHaul truck will be showcased in production form at the German event in September.
In addition, the company will present two other battery-electric trucks at the show – one another eActros and an eEconic model.
The eActros LongHaul offers megawatt charging, meaning batteries can be replenished from 20% to 80% in under 30 minutes.
Furthermore, the overall driving ranges for the new truck are on a par with conventional diesel units.
The news of the show revel at IAA Transportation 2022 comes days after Volvo announced its new fuel cell truck.
Meanwhile, other recent announcements about new EV trucks have come from MAN and Scania.
Karin Rådström, CEO, Mercedes-Benz Trucks, said he couldn’t wait to present the truck at the German show.
“The electrification of heavy long-distance transport is the next milestone on our road to CO2-neutrality.
“The eActros LongHaul is a battery-electric vehicle that is planned to be economically feasible for our customers,” he added.
As driving range is a major factor for long-distance truck drivers, Mercedes-Benz made this a priority with LongHaul.
The claimed 500km available from a single charge will be more than adequate for the majority of journeys, says the company.
In addition, legal restrictions on the driving times for truck drivers limit the need for longer ranges, depending on the case.
For example, EU drivers must take a minimum of a 45-minute break after a maximum of 4.5 hours of driving.
During this time energy for the remaining route can be recharged.
