South Wales-based haulier, John Pearce Glynneath, has taken delivery of two New Generation XF tractors from DAF.

Furthermore, he becomes of the first UK operators to do so.

The vehicles have been supplied by DAF dealer, Watts Truck & Van of Swansea.

In addition, the XF 480 FTG 6×2 tractors supplement the firm’s majority DAF fleet.

The new trucks will supplement the Welsh operator’s curtainsider pallet work in the UK and abroad.

The New Generation XF has won international praise, alongside the bigger XG and XG+ stablemates.

Therefore, it represents a big step forward in design and efficiency.

For example, DAF Trucks was the first manufacturer to take advantage of the new EU Masses and Dimensions regulations.

As a result, the XF sports a new cab and improves fuel efficiency by up to 10% over the previous model.

For John Pearce Glynneath’s MD, Clive Davies, opting for the New Generation DAF XF was an easy decision.

“We’ve been buying DAF since the 1970s,” he explained.

“And, we have a long-standing relationship with the dealership.

‘Therefore, DAF is our preferred manufacturer because they’re always fantastic for reliability and service from the dealership is outstanding.

Continuing, Davies said he was very pleased with the new additions to the company’s fleet.

“The cab itself is a big improvement in terms of visibility.

For example, he cited the lower dashboard, bigger windows and camera systems as positive improvements.

Concluding, Davies added: “Liveried up, they look fantastic. DAF has done a great job with the overall design.”

Meanwhile, there are numerous operational benefits of the New Generation XF.

For example, it offers improved fuel economy, payload potential, with service intervals of one year or 200,000km.

In addition, it allows over-the-air software updates.

Finally, enhanced safety systems mean the New Generation XF ranks highly for heavy-duty trucks.
