Cambridgeshire-based Knowles Transport has welcomed its first vehicles from Renault Trucks onto its fleet.

The new additions were supplied by Renault Truck Commercials and feature the Knowles Transport orange livery.

Specifically, the operator opted for two two T440 6x2s.

The trucks will be tasked with moving food, drink and ambient to retailers across the UK and Ireland.

The addition of the Renaults coincides with a Knowles Transport celebrating 90 years in business.

As a result, the company decided to go with the T440s to boost the 120-strong fleet.

For example, the new trucks were chosen for their fuel performance, driver comfort and dealer back-up service.

The catalyst for the deal was the relationship with the Renault Trucks salesman.

Managing director, Alex Knowles, said he was confident it would be good business.

“I’ve worked with Dean Hall before and he clearly understands our business and its requirements,” said Knowles.

“Therefore, when Dean explained how the Renault Trucks T will work well in our operation, I trusted his judgement.”

In other words, it was enough to be convinced that Knowles Transport should trial them.

Meanwhile, the backup service at Renault Trucks’ WTL Truck and Van Centre in Duxford was crucial to the deal.

“Knowles provides the infrastructure and scalability of a multi-national third-party logistics company,” said Knowles.

“Therefore, making sure our vehicles are out on the road, with minimal downtime, is key.

“Renault Trucks was able to tick all the boxes.”

Specifically, Knowles said the company was able offer timely pick up, good communication efficient replacement of parts.

The T440s are spec’d with driver comfort and acceptance in mind.

For example, optional extras include luxury driver’s seat and Ultimate leather steering wheel.

Furthermore, the trucks have convertible upper bunks, performance roof console with four storage compartments and doors, 4-point cab air-suspension.
