Iveco’s new S-Way broke cover via an online unveiling for the manufacturer’s dealer network as well as journalists.
Claims of fuel efficiency improvements of up to 3% have been made by Iveco for the new truck.
In addition, S-Way will feature Driver Pal technology, which will change the way drivers interact with the vehicle.
The brand president of Iveco, Thomas Hilse, said S-Way is “a truly forward-thinking vehicle”.
“It is sustainable and efficient, engineered with a deep-rooted entrepreneurial mindset,” he stated.
Meanwhile, he added that Iveco’s new S-Way will put customers “centre stage” in terms of communication technologies.
“The new S-Way is the future of the world of transport – and it’s here today,” he claimed.
The arrival of the new truck comes just two years after the original S-Way was launched.
Iveco said wanted to give customer a vehicle that would “anticipate their wants and exceed their expectations”.
There is a revamped engine lineup for the new model, especially at the top end.
Specifically, there are new power rating for the two 13-litre engines of 490hp and 530hp.
Furthermore, those engines have been coupled with single-reduction rear axles and longer rear axle ratios to boost efficiency.
Fuel efficiency is further improved with a new ‘Eco Mode’ function for the air-con and aerodynamic covers for the A-pillars.
In terms of connectivity, Iveco’s new S-Way offers proactive and predictive support.
For example, Driver Pal will enable customers to control vehicle systems and fleet managements via voice control.
Therefore, drivers can activate in-cab controls, plan routes and check vehicle health while they are on the move.
In the event of an issue with the truck, alerts can also be sent via the system to the nearest Iveco workshop.
