Following comprehensive fuel trials, Southern and Midlands-based transport company Hi Speed Services Ltd has added the first Renault trucks to its 48-strong, primarily Merc fleet.
Delivered through Renault Trucks South, the three Renault Premium 460.25 6x2s with Excellence cabs and two Renault Midlum 270.18 trucks – one with a day cab and one with a sleeper cab – are achieving impressive fuel returns of up to 13 mpg. A demonstrator Renault Premium sealed the deal, outperforming a Mercedes Actros in a direct trial. The new Renault trucks will be based at the company’s site in Rugby, transporting full loads for blue-chip clients across the UK and Europe.
Jamie Boazman, regional director at Hi Speed Services, Rugby, said: “Not only did the Renault Premium outperform the Mercedes Actros in the initial fuel trials, but we have since seen an average of 10.62 mpg across all the new Renaults and, with some results coming in at up to 13 mpg, we are achieving the highest returns on our fleet.”
