Wren Kitchens and Bedrooms has taken delivery of the first 20 trucks from a 70-vehicle Isuzu N75.190 order.
The purchase represents its largest single order of Isuzu 7.5-tonne rigids since the companies began working together nearly a decade ago.
The trucks combine replacements for older vehicles with fleet additions to support growth across Wren’s UK business.
They join a 410-strong commercial fleet, which includes 125 Isuzu-supplied 7.5-tonners.
Philip Bennet, national fleet manager at Wren Kitchens, said: “The 70 new Isuzu N75.190 trucks will increase capacity by 20 per cent to support continued sales growth in the domestic retail, contract and trade sectors.”
He added: “Isuzu’s reliability, nationwide service support and driver comforts make the N75 the right choice for our industry benchmark home delivery operation, which is defined by consistent performance, efficiency and uptime.”
Demountable bodies for home deliveries
Wheelbase Engineering designed the specialist demountable box bodies around Wren’s multi-drop home delivery requirements.
The design aims to make effective use of the chassis’ carrying capacity while providing dedicated storage for delivery equipment.
Ancillary lockers accommodate home protection kits and safety equipment. Each body also includes a separate watertight compartment for a fire extinguisher.
Crews previously carried these items inside the cab. Moving them into designated compartments frees cab space and improves access to equipment during deliveries.
Wren says the revised arrangement supports operational efficiency, safety and driver comfort.
The release does not specify the completed vehicles’ payload or body dimensions. Those figures depend on the final chassis and body specification.
Wheelbase Engineering is a family-owned commercial vehicle engineering business based in Darwen, Lancashire. Its activities include chassis modifications, trailer chassis, demountable systems and bodybuilding.
Automated transmission and intensive use
Wren has selected the Isuzu N75.190(E), the automated-transmission version of the 7.5-tonne rigid.
Isuzu’s published specification for the N75.190 automated chassis lists a 5.2-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine. It produces 140kW, equivalent to 190PS, and works with a six-speed Easy Shift automated transmission.
The trucks will deliver across the UK, operating up to six days a week.
Each vehicle should cover approximately 121,000km annually. Wren expects to retain them for five years, matching its vehicle replacement policy.
At that expected utilisation, each truck could cover around 605,000km before replacement. That makes servicing provision and vehicle availability important parts of the purchasing package.
The order combines additional delivery capacity with the renewal of existing vehicles. It therefore supports expansion while continuing Wren’s established replacement cycle.
Five-year maintenance support
All 70 trucks come with five-year full repair and maintenance contracts.
Isuzu Truck UK’s dealer network will carry out the work, providing support throughout the vehicles’ planned time in the fleet.
Each chassis cab also carries the manufacturer’s standard three-year, unlimited-mileage warranty.
The warranty and maintenance agreement have different durations. The repair and maintenance contract runs for the full five-year operating period, while the chassis cab warranty covers three years.
A dedicated representative from Isuzu’s Customer CARE Team will provide ongoing support alongside the dealer network.
Lee Tansley, national fleet sales manager at Isuzu Truck UK, said: “This latest purchase underlines the trust that Wren Kitchens places in both the performance of the 7.5-tonne N-Series and the support it receives from our dealer network.
“We’re proud of the role we’re playing in its growing operation and look forward to building on that relationship as it enters a second decade.”
Founded in 2009, privately owned Wren supplies made-to-order kitchens and bedrooms through 125 UK showrooms.
The Isuzu N75.190 order supports deliveries across its domestic retail, contract and trade operations, with the remaining trucks still to arrive.
