Wilson McCurdy Jnr Haulage has taken delivery of its first Renault truck, prompted by impressive personal dealer service.
The Ballymena-based operator was hugely impressed by local dealer, Diamond Trucks, which prompted the switch in fleet direction.
The new T520 High 6×2 pusher is equipped with a 13-litre DTI engine, with 512hp and 2,550Nm.
In addition, it features Renault Trucks’ Optidriver AT 2612F gearbox with automatic clutch.
Wilson McCurdy Jnr Haulage has opted for a number of options to help its first Renault truck stand out.
For example, there’s Alcoa Dura-Bright aluminium wheels and roof-mounted twin air horns.
Furthermore, the cab is finished in striking red paint with matching bumper corners, centre and steps.
The company’s seven-strong fleet makes regular runs out of Cork, Limerick and Kerry across Ireland.
In addition, McCurdy Jnr Haulage also travels to the UK.
Operators in the area recommending Renault, so company director, Wilson McCurdy Jr, thought he’d investigate.
“Word gets about on lorries, what’s good and what’s bad,” he said.
“Therefore, we were hearing good reports about the Renault trucks.
“We contacted Diamond Trucks in Mallusk and arranged for a T480 demo, which performed very well.”
Continuing, McCurdy Jnr said he was particularly taken with the Evolution model.
“I was particularly impressed with the updated cab shape, increased internal storage.
“In addition, it had a more comfortable bunk, improved steering column and new LED headlights.
“It just has the wow factor,” he explained.
Meanwhile the dealer back-up service matched the looks of the company’s first Renault truck.
In fact, the service was instrumental in Wilson’s new vehicle selection, revealed McCurdy Jnr.
“Keeping our trucks out on the road with minimal downtime is essential so excellent dealer back up is vital,” he said.
“We were impressed by the team at Diamond Trucks and its down-to-earth approach.”
