The first Actros Edition 2 truck from Mercedes-Benz has hit the road in the UK.

The limited edition vehicle has joined the fleet at Wilkin & Sons, producer of Tiptree Jam.

As a result, it will operate out of the company’s main warehouse in Maldon, North Essex.

Furthermore, it will stand out thanks to some bespoke exterior items.

For example, the truck has a ‘Moonstone Grey’ grille and sun visor.

In addition, the sunvisor incorporates four LES headlights for improved visibility.

Other items exclusive to this first Actros Edition 2 include a dark chrome star and gloss black trim and stainless steel entrance steps.

Edition 2s are being built as rigids as well as tractor units.

As a result, they are available in 4×2, 6×2 or 6×4 configurations with GigaSpace or BigSpace cabs.

Customers can choose from 15.6- or 12.8-litre in-line six-cylinder engines.

The engines offer a combined total of eight outputs.

However, it’s not the first special edition truck from Mercedes Benz on the fleet.

Driver Bradley Scott has piloted an Actros Edition 1 since January 2020.

Meanwhile, the first Actros Edition 2 has been assigned to a driver who passed his Class 1 very recently.

Tim Sharp came out of a 26-tonne curtainsider after passing – with no minors – the HGV test that allows him to drive tractor units.

Like the Edition 1, Wilkin & Sons’ Edition 2 has a GigaSpace cab and the most powerful of the 12.8-litre engines.

Transport manager Kevin King explained the investment in the first Actros Edition 2.

“We’d been relying on two tractors for some time but decided to replace a 10-year-old 26-tonner with a third.”

In addition, King said that both Actros trucks have gone down well.

“We’ve had a lot of positive feedback already from people who’ve seen Tim’s Edition 2.
