A New Generation DAF XG+ has entered service with Widnes-based McGuire Transport.

The 530 FT 4×2 tractor unit is the first DAF on the company’s fleet in eight years.

It is the first new vehicle that has been acquired by McGuire Transport, which operates a fleet of three trucks.

The new XG+ will predominantly be responsible for transporting food-grade powders to destinations across the continent.

Responsibilities will also include some general bulk haulage, as well as container distribution from the Port of Liverpool.

The owner of McGuire Transport, Mick McGuire, will also be the lucky driver of the new truck.

“Though I’d not owned a DAF for several years, I was keen to check out the XG+,” he says.

“The exceptional value for money offered by the big DAF is impressive when compared to the competition.”

McGuire explains he was happy to shop around for his truck from time to time.

Eventually, he ordered it from his local DAF Dealer, North West Trucks.

“I have no history with the dealer or with the current DAF aftersales service,” says the company boss.

“However, the guarantee of a courtesy vehicle and the comprehensive R&M package gave me the confidence I needed to commit to DAF.”

McGuire Transport took delivery of the XG+ at the start of April, but the truck has covered just 300 miles.

This is due, in part, to McGuire taking time out of the business to recover from surgery.

Nevertheless, he has been impressed by the XG+ in the short time he’s been behind the wheel.

“I think the exterior looks fantastic and it feels roomy and spacious inside the cab.

“In terms of driver comfort, the lower dashboard helps dramatically with visibility.

“The swivel seat is by far the best I’ve ever sat in,” concludes McGuire.
