Abbey Logistics’ tanker fleet has been replenished with a set of the new generation XF 450 FTPs from DAF.

The bulk powder and liquid specialist has added seven tractor units to the tanker fleet, which boasts 700 units in total.

The investment is part of of a long-standing relationship between DAF Trucks and Abbey Logistics.

In addition, the company’s fleet has been bolstered by a quartet of the previous generation DAF XF.

As well as the 700-strong tanker fleet, there are 350 tractors at Abbey Logistics.

Dave Patten, the Abbey Logistics MD said that a successful fleet truck is one that drivers took great pride in operating.

“Therefore, it needs to be safe, comfortable and specified to a high standard.

“In other words, the right equipment and facilities a driver would need when out on the road.”

Continuing, Patten said he believed DAF’s New Generation trucks were some of the highest quality vehicles on the market today.

“So, we are pleased to be among the first UK operators to add them to our fleet,” he said.

It is too early for Abbey Logistics to provide any real-world economy data on the new XFs.

However, the firm is confident that they will bring “substantial increases in overall efficiency”.

Interestingly, Abbey Logistics’ XFs are fitted with DAF’s Digital Vision System.

The technology replaces the main and wide-angle door mirrors with retractable roof-mounted cameras and in-cab screens.

In other words, it provides improved visibility in all weather conditions and provides access to additional features.

Concluding, Patten said: “We always engage our drivers when we plan to make a notable change to our fleet.

“It’s important for us to gain their perspective on what they are looking for from a new model of truck.”
