A recent workshop upgrade is set to benefit Mercedes-Benz and FUSO truck operators and drivers in Hampshire.

The Marshall Truck & Van site there has seen investments of £1 million in the facilities.

As a result, the workshop has expanded at the Andover site to accommodate an additional two bays, joining the previous four.

One of the new bays is equipped with rollers and necessary equipment for tachograph installations, calibrations and repairs.

Previously, these tasks were done by an independent specialist that only worked during normal working hours.

Therefore, the dealer’s decision to bring this service in-house means reduced downtime for operators.

The workshop upgrade project took nine months to complete.

However, it has resulted in a comfortable new waiting area for drivers, plus new sales offices for Marshall staff.

Meanwhile, there’s a new meeting room, and a bespoke canteen and washroom for technicians.

Marshall Truck & Van’s head of business, Wayne Edwards, explained the need for the upgrade.

“The investment we’ve made at Andover is benefiting customers and colleagues alike.

“Also, it reflects our determination to be the number one provider on the South coast.”

The Andover facility now exceeds the standards required of its franchised partners by Mercedes-Benz Trucks UK.

Marshall Truck & Van also operates from other branches in Fareham and Croydon, as well as a flagship dealership at Nursling, Southampton.

“Our Andover general manager David Collard and his team have made great strides over recent years,” explained Edwards.

Operators that rely on Marshall Truck & Van’s Andover team include Howard Tenens Logistics.

It purchased its first 16 new-generation Actros tractor units last year.

Specifically, dealer support was key to the family-owned company’s decision to place the order.

In fact, Alan Pellow, Howard Tenens’ national fleet and compliance manager, described the dealer’s backup as “superb”.
