FUSO Truck UK will take over sales and customer services for FUSO products across Great Britain from 1 October 2026. The newly appointed general distributor will operate from the Wentworth Park complex in Barnsley, with a dedicated dealer network.

Daimler Truck UK and Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation (MFTBC) confirmed the appointment. Chairman and owner Sid Sadique OBE will lead the business alongside managing director David Hamer.

The change gives the brand a dedicated British distribution operation following the integration of FUSO and Hino under ARCHION. For operators, the next announcement will provide details of the dealer network and the company’s market strategy.

Dealer network and fleet support

FUSO Truck UK plans to build on the existing service network while appointing dealers to support the new operation. It will also establish a key accounts team, based in Barnsley, to look after fleet operators.

The company has yet to name its dealer partners or publish the network’s geographical coverage. Further announcements will identify senior personnel and explain how the business intends to develop its British presence.

Daimler Truck UK says the two organisations have worked together on the transition. Their preparations have focused on maintaining support for customers, dealers and business partners as responsibility changes hands.

Richard Skidmore, managing director of Daimler Truck UK, said: “Throughout the transition process, both organisations have worked closely together to establish a strong operational framework that supports customers, Dealers and business partners.”

He added: “We are confident that FUSO Truck UK is well positioned to build on the brand’s established presence in the market and deliver continued growth in the years ahead.”

Sadique said the new business would concentrate on the Mitsubishi product range and a service-focused dealer network. He also confirmed plans to introduce a new management team.

“I am pleased and honoured to announce the creation of the Fuso Truck UK business,” he said.

Canter and eCanter provide the product base

The brand’s British vehicle offering includes the diesel Canter and battery-electric eCanter. These chassis serve applications including distribution, construction, waste collection and municipal work.

The current British website lists diesel Canter models at 7.5 and 8.55 tonnes gross vehicle weight. Its electric range includes 4.25, 7.49 and 8.55-tonne versions. FUSO’s British product information sets out the available models.

The eCanter offers different battery configurations to suit operating requirements. FUSO quotes ranges of up to 70km, 140km and 200km for its S, M and L battery packs respectively. Operators should treat these as manufacturer figures when assessing vehicles against their own routes and duty cycles. FUSO’s eCanter specifications explain the battery options.

The distributor announcement contains no changes to vehicle specifications, pricing or delivery lead times. Its focus is the organisation responsible for selling and supporting the products.

Part of a wider European reorganisation

The appointment forms part of FUSO’s European business reorganisation following the creation of the ARCHION holding structure. MFTBC says the new arrangement will strengthen its sales and service network and support customers in Great Britain.

Stuart Jeggo, sales and marketing director at Daimler Truck UK, described the appointment as an important strategic development. He said the dedicated operation would support continuity for customers and dealer partners while pursuing the brand’s growth plans.

Daimler Truck UK remains the official importer for Mercedes-Benz Trucks, including Unimog. The forthcoming dealer announcement will give FUSO operators a clearer picture of the sales and service coverage available from October.
