The first new trailer from Schmitz Cargobull’s UK plant has been revealed.
S.KO Pace Smart is dry-freight semi-trailer designed for UK and Irish operators.
As a result, it has a number of market-specific features.
For example, it is designed for the parcel delivery and dry freight sectors.
Therefore, it uses lightweight honeycomb panels to keep weight lower than competitor products.
Specifically, the Strucktoplast panels help contribute to a 600kg weight saving.
Furthermore, the panels means that the tare weight stays consistent over time.
Therefore, payload potential on day one is maintained for the life of the trailer.
In addition, the design helps reduce carbon emissions over the life of the trailer produced at the UK plant.
Meanwhile, the S.KO PACE SMART is fully EN 12642 code XL certified.
It offers a variety of options including load securing rails.
Also, customers can specify a translucent roof and tail lift.
Finally, there are two door choices – rear shutter or aluminium barn.
Furthermore, its axles are covered by a 1,000,000km or six-year warranty.
Load restraints can also be fitted with to protect parcels.
Outside of the trailer, the Schmitz Cargobull telematics system TrailerConnect is fitted as a standard.
Paul Avery, Schmitz Cargobull’s UK MD of operations, is happy with the UK plant.
“The S.KO PACE SMART offers the high standards of quality and durability customers expect.
“In addition, it comes with a 10-year warranty against rust-through.”
The Schmitz Cargobull UK plant in Manchester has, so far, created 40 jobs.
It is also now home of the entire UK team of currently 62 employees.
Concluding, Avery said: “Opening the UK plant this year has been a fantastic opportunity.
“As a team we are extremely proud of the quality of the manufacturing process we have created.”
