A pair of Iveco S-Way tractor units have been acquired by Moody Logistics.
The duo join 28 other trucks on the company’s Eurocargo- and Stralis-heavy fleet.
Therefore, the S-Ways were a natural choice for the operator.
The pair of Iveco trucks are both fitted with a Cursor 11 engine with 480hp.
In addition, 12-speed Hi-Tronix boxes have been specified, along with a 6×2 steering mid-lift chassis.
Specifically, the new additions will pull double-deck trailers between Leicester and Newcastle overnight.
Driver comfort was a key consideration in the specification of the vehicles.
For example, the S-Way trucks have air-suspended swivelling seats.
Meanwhile, there is also a three-piece folding bunk with drop down table to maximise interior space.
In addition, the AS sleeper cap boasts a 2.15m standing height.
Furthermore, the trucks’ exteriors also have been carefully specified.
The Aero Plus Pack means front corner fins and adjustable spoilers are fitted.
As a result, drivers can achieve a potential 12% drag coefficient reduction.
Not only that, but they also stand to improve fuel economy by up to 4%.
Caroline Moody, MD at Moody Logistics, explained the choice of another pair of Iveco trucks.
“We’ve always run nearly all Iveco, so our in-house maintenance team know them inside and out,” she said.
“In terms of TCO and upfront cost, etc. they offer good value.”
“In addition, we have a very long-term relationship with the brand too, going way back before my time.
Interestingly, the company used to have an Iveco franchise, with staff selling the trucks themselves.
Meanwhile, both new trucks are named after their ‘Geordie’ home region.
For example, one is named after local primary school, Eastlea Primary School.
The school won a competition run by Moody Logistics to encourage interest in the logistics industry.
