A new conference has been announced by Logistics UK around the subject of net zero, called Delivering Decarbonisation.

The one-day event will take place on 22nd November at the Congress Centre in London.

Within the new conference, speakers will explore the roadmap to net zero, for example their current plans and initiatives.

In addition, they will give more details about projects that will help businesses – including hauliers – move to net zero.

Denise Beedell, public policy manager, Logistics UK, explained the event will also help with future-proofing future net zero strategies.

“The importance of decarbonising operations is increasing as we head towards phase out dates and the net-zero by 2050 deadline.

“Industry has demonstrated a great willingness to decarbonise and has already taken great steps towards this,” she added.

“However, Logistics UK recognises this can be a complicated and overwhelming process.

“We are delighted to be launching this event, which brings together some of the most knowledgeable and influential logistics professionals.”

Concluding, she stressed the new conference would “focus on the conversations worth having”.

Panel discussions will form part of the day, with keynote speakers from industry experts.

A wide range of topics will be discussed at the event.

For example, sessions include: Powering up your HGV Fleet; Financing the Change and Non-Net Zero Technology.

In addition, there will be a session related to how SMEs can remain profitable amid the move to net-zero.

Meanwhile, Logistics UK has been voted trade association of the year at the 2022 Memcom Excellence Awards.

The business group competed against associations representing all facets of the UK economy.

David Wells, Logistics UK’s chief executive said the business was “thrilled” to triumph.

“Logistics UK continues to set the standard for its members,” he said.

“Therefore, this award is a testament to the dedication of our staff.”
