A specialist construction haulier has become the first operator in the UK to put a Mercedes-Benz Arocs Extent tipper into service following delivery of the limited-edition truck from dealer Rygor Auto.

The vehicle joins the all-Mercedes-Benz Trucks fleet operated by MJ Freeth and is one of just 100 Arocs Extent models being produced for the European market. According to Rygor Auto, it is the first example ordered in the UK and currently the only tipper variant operating in the country.

The truck will work within MJ Freeth’s quarrying and construction transport business, hauling aggregates, crushed materials and demolition waste across a variety of demanding applications.

Founded in 2009 by owner Matt Freeth, the business has built its fleet around Mercedes-Benz products, alongside workshop operations supporting quarry and commercial vehicle equipment.

Freeth said the company’s continued investment in the brand is driven by reliability and strong dealer support.

“The decision to continue investing in Mercedes-Benz Trucks reflects our focus on reliability and uptime,” he said.

“I started out with a second-hand Mercedes-Benz truck, then added another, and then started to buy new. My confidence in the vehicles just grew from there, and I haven’t looked back since. They’re really well-made with a tough chassis that’s built for the construction industry, and the backup from Rygor has always been excellent too.”

Built around driver comfort

The new Mercedes-Benz Arocs Extent was specified in partnership with Rygor Auto and includes a range of factory-fitted features that Freeth says would normally be added during the specification process.

“We always spec our trucks with the driver in mind,” he said.

“When the Extent became available, a lot of the extras we’d normally add were already on the truck. Things like comfortable seating, intuitive sat nav, LED lights and a proper leather steering wheel all matter.”

Freeth also believes vehicle presentation plays an important role in the company’s success.

“If you turn up in a well-presented truck, people trust you before you’ve even started the job. When we looked at the Extent as a whole package, it was like they’d basically built a truck specifically for us.”

The Mercedes-Benz Arocs Extent builds on the existing Arocs construction platform with a series of exclusive styling enhancements. These include a matte Weather Grey grille, LED headlights, additional roof-mounted LED lamps integrated into the sun visor and unique exterior graphics.

Further detailing includes dark chrome Arocs badging, carbon-look trim pieces and stainless-steel axle caps and wheel nut covers.

Inside the cab, drivers benefit from a leather steering wheel and Mercedes-Benz’s latest Multimedia Cockpit Interactive 2 system, offering touchscreen functionality, integrated navigation and enhanced connectivity features.

A truck designed for construction

Powered by Mercedes-Benz Trucks’ latest Euro VI diesel engines, the Mercedes-Benz Arocs Extent has been developed specifically for demanding off-road and construction applications.

Marcus Cahalin, Sales Executive at Rygor Auto, said the vehicle remains focused on the requirements of operators working in challenging environments.

“These vehicles are like laptops on wheels now – highly advanced, fully electrical, but mechanically bulletproof,” he said.

“The Arocs is built for construction work. It’s not a haulage chassis trying to act in the construction game. It is fully built for it.”

For Rygor Auto, the delivery also marks an important milestone in its long-standing relationship with MJ Freeth.

“The Arocs Extent is a special truck. Only 100 are being built across Europe, and this is the first one ordered in the UK and the only tipper Arocs Extent in the country,” added Cahalin.

“What matters most for us as a dealer is how we support Matt and his fleet. That backup is essential, and we also offer an Extent Plus warranty package to give customers in demanding sectors real peace of mind.”

The arrival of the Mercedes-Benz Arocs Extent gives MJ Freeth a unique addition to its fleet while highlighting the continuing demand for premium construction vehicles capable of combining durability with driver-focused specification.
