A lightweight trailer that is fully modular has been launched at ITT Hub this week.
The Schmitz Cargobull semi-trailer – S.KO Pace Smart – debuted alongside the company’s S.CS fixed roof curtainsider.
The new lightweight trailer is targeting the parcel delivery and dry freight market in the UK.
As a result, it needs to be strong, despite displaying its lightweight credentials.
Therefore, the unit combines renowned build quality with innovative composite panels.
The lightweight panels ensure each trailer weighs around 600kg less than competitor models.
In addition, the design ensures the panels on the lightweight trailer do not absorb moisture, even if damaged.
As a result, the tare weight of the trailer remains consistent over time.
That setup ensures the payload potential on day one is maintained for the life of the asset.
Importantly, the lightweight trailer also comes with a 12-month body warranty.
Meanwhile, the fixed roof curtainsider has a straight front wall for free side loading and tarpaulin tensioning.
Additioninally, it boasts an XL load securing side curtain with standard anti-theft protection.
Finally, the spec include an aluminium roof, which allows a side-loading height of up to 3,100mm.
Both trailers are fully EN 12642-XL certified.
In addition, they are built on Schmitz Cargobull’s fully galvanised chassis.
The chassis comes with a 10-year warranty against rust-through.
Paul Avery, UK managing director of operations at Schmitz was delighted with the response.
“Our order book has been filled with household name parcel delivery companies and general haulage businesses,” he stated.
“With an increase in fuel costs, it’s never been more important for operators to use lightweight and reliable trailers.
Continuing, Avery said that trailer production in Manchester enables favourable lead times for UK and Irish operators.
The S.KO Pace Smart offers telematics as standard and has a long options list.
