Dynes Motor Group has expanded its heavy recovery fleet with a Mercedes-Benz Actros L ProCabin equipped with specialist Boniface Interstator recovery equipment, continuing a long-standing relationship with Mercedes-Benz Trucks dealer SAGA Truck & Van.
The investment forms part of the company’s ongoing fleet development as it supports vehicle recovery, maintenance and roadside assistance operations, including specialist work involving London’s buses.
Dynes has grown considerably over the past 25 years. The business now comprises five companies employing more than 150 people and was involved in recovering or assisting more than 85,000 vehicles during 2025.
Its activities cover light and heavy vehicle recovery, commercial and retail vehicle maintenance, vehicle rental and sales.

Heavy recovery equipment and driver specification
The latest Actros L ProCabin has been specified for demanding heavy recovery duties, combining the Mercedes-Benz chassis with Boniface Interstator equipment.
The vehicle also features a stainless-steel body and an extensive equipment specification intended to ensure its recovery operators have the tools they need when attending incidents.
Andy Nock, Managing Director of Dynes Motor Group, said: “We use a stainless steel body that has every extra you can add to it. I do that to make sure the driver has everything they need at all times.”
For a recovery business operating in busy urban environments, the vehicle’s safety technology is another important consideration.
Nock highlighted the increasing complexity of working on congested roads, particularly in London, where recovery operators must contend with high traffic volumes and vulnerable road users.
“The Mercedes-Benz Actros, with its advanced technology and radars, keeps the public safe and our drivers safe,” he said.
The Actros L’s driver assistance systems form part of a specification intended to support crews working in demanding roadside conditions.
Supporting London’s bus network
One of Dynes’ specialist activities is keeping public transport vehicles moving in the capital.
The company uses its round-the-clock control room and recovery fleet to respond to incidents involving London buses, providing recovery and repair support.
Such operations require equipment capable of handling large commercial vehicles while working in restricted and heavily trafficked locations.
The latest heavy recovery truck adds to the specialist resources available to the business, supporting its wider commitment to vehicle availability and customer service.

Partnership with SAGA Truck & Van
Dynes’ relationship with Mercedes-Benz Trucks stretches back several decades, supported by dealer SAGA Truck & Van.
The dealership supplies commercial vehicle customers across Hertfordshire, Kent, Essex and East Anglia, with vehicle sales and aftersales support forming part of its relationship with Dynes.
Martin Kemsley, SAGA UK Truck Sales Director, said the partnership reflected the importance of supporting specialist operators with both vehicles and ongoing service.
Nock also pointed to the close working relationship between the dealer and recovery equipment manufacturer Boniface, which helps simplify the process of specifying and commissioning new vehicles.
“Over the years we’ve grown as a customer and a supplier to SAGA Truck & Van, which is quite unique,” he explained.
“They make the process of ordering the chassis really simple, and working alongside Boniface, our equipment supplier, makes the process seamless.”
From local recovery business to national operation
The Dynes business dates back to 1947, when it was owned by the Dynes family.
Nock began his career as an apprentice engineer before purchasing the company in 2000.
Since then, it has developed from a relatively small recovery and service vehicle operation into a diversified motor group.
Despite that expansion, Nock said customer service remained central to the company’s approach.
Stuart Jeggo, Sales & Marketing Director at Daimler Truck UK, said the relationship between Dynes, Mercedes-Benz Trucks and SAGA Truck & Van demonstrated the importance of dependable vehicles and aftersales support to businesses whose operations rely on vehicle availability.
For Dynes, continued investment in specialist recovery equipment is intended to support its growing workload while providing operators with the vehicles and equipment needed to carry out their duties safely.
