A new Volvo FM has joined the James Removals fleet.

Interestingly, the vehicle was acquired after a recommendation from another operator.

The FM 430 Globetrotter 4×2 rigid was supplied by MC Truck & Bus.

Furthermore, it has a three-star Direct Vision Standard (DVS) rating.

As a result, it can operate in Greater London from October 2024.

The new Volvo FM is a direct replacement for an older like-for-like vehicle from a rival marque.

In addition, it is the first new Volvo for the Blackheath-based business in 35 years.

James De-Machen, owner of James Removals, explained the decision.

“We have been looking to add a Volvo to our fleet for several years.

“Therefore, when the older rigid needed updating, it seemed the ideal time.

“Also, it also tied in with the launch of the latest version of the FM with the updated cab.”

Continuing, De-Machen added that the three-star rated cab really stood out.

“It looks fantastic,” he enthused.

“Plus, it helps to ensure the FM is perfect for our operations in London.”

Importantly, the new Volvo FM has plenty of power for the removal jobs.

For example, the truck’s D11K Euro-6 engine produces up to 430hp and 2,050Nm of torque.

Meanwhile, the I-Shift gearbox is already delivering improved fuel economy.

Specifically, there are a number of driver-focused additions on board.

For example, the new Volvo FM boasts a microwave and television.

In addition, there is satellite navigation and a 28-litre fridge.

James Removals has also specified the new Volvo FM with the Volvo Active Safety pack.

In other words, drivers benefit from adaptive cruise control with emergency brake assistance and driver alert support.

Finally, the FM is expected to be in operation for around 10 years.

The truck will cover up to 35,000km a year.
