A fleet stocked exclusively by a rival manufacturer now features a brand new Volvo FM 460.

The Globetrotter 8×4 tipper has joined Banbury-based A C Services after previous experience of used trucks.

Choosing a Volvo was, specifically, down to impressive fuel returns from those two other vehicles.

In addition, A C Services has always viewed Volvo as a premium brand, plus the drivers like them.

Richard Coleman, Director at A C Services, explained by buying a brand new Volvo was such a big deal.

“The two Volvos we’ve run before were very popular,” he explained.

“However, as they were second hand, they didn’t have the ideal spec we needed.

“Therefore, it was very exciting to be able to go to town on a Volvo truck that fits our needs perfectly.”

In other words, the brand new Volvo FM at A C Services’ features a number of special items.

For example, there’s a fridge, lots of active safety technology and Alcoa aluminium rims.

The power, meanwhile, comes from Volvo’s D13K engine with 460hp and a peak torque of 2,300Nm.

“When we were putting together our spec, driver comfort and happiness were the top priority,” added Coleman.

Also, we wanted a truck that would turn heads when out on a job.”

Continuing, Coleman said that resale value was a consideration behind the decision to buy a brand new Volvo.

“We know that Volvo is a brand that’s very much in demand, so we were eager to capitalise on the truck’s long-term value potential.”

The vehicle’s livery also features a nod to Coleman’s late grandfather’s former haulage company, Coleman Transport.

Importantly, the new truck features images of the business’ Volvo fleet.

“Before my father founded A C Services, he helped his father build up Coleman Transport,” he explained.

“By 1998, they had six vehicles on their books.”
