The Ellete Waste fleet has gained four specialist DAF trucks through a long-term hire agreement with Mac’s Truck Rental.
The order comprises three skip loaders and one hook loader. All four trucks carry VDL lifting equipment and Ellete Waste’s silver livery.
Mac’s supplied the vehicles from its available stock. This allowed the operator to start expanding its skip hire service without waiting for new chassis or body production slots.
The Huddersfield-based supplier built the trucks for waste-sector work at its manufacturing facility. Mac’s Truck Rental offers short and long-term hire for specialist commercial vehicles. Its fleet includes skip loaders, hook loaders, crane trucks, beavertails and jet/vac tankers.
Peter Sawrij, director of Ellete Waste, said the company needed a quick delivery as it developed its operation.
“Several members of our team have worked with Mac’s Truck Rental previously, so they were already at the top of our list,” he explained.
“The long-term hire option has allowed us to put brand new vehicles into service straight away, without the need for significant upfront capital.”

DAF CF hook loader leads the fleet
The largest truck in the Ellete Waste fleet is a 32-tonne DAF CF 450 8×4 hook loader.
Mac’s specified the truck with a construction chassis and raised steel front bumper. It carries VDL 25-tonne hook-loading equipment.
A Transcover hydraulic side-extending sheeting system covers full skips during transport. The specification also includes stabiliser jacks and aluminium chequer-plate mud wings.
Rear light guards provide extra protection during waste operations. External manual override controls give the operator another method of controlling the equipment when required.
The three skip loaders cover two different weight categories. Two are 18-tonne DAF XB 260 4×2 rigids, fitted with 14-tonne VDL skip-loading equipment.
Both trucks use hydraulic tower sheeting systems. Mac’s has also fitted high-strength Domex steel components and construction-specification chassis.
The third skip loader is a 12-tonne DAF XB 210 4×2. It carries an eight-tonne VDL system and Transcover sheeting equipment.
This range gives the operator greater flexibility across domestic and commercial work. The lighter XB can handle smaller jobs where access or vehicle size may present a problem. The larger trucks provide greater capacity for heavier containers and commercial collections.

Long-term hire contains fleet costs
Mac’s long-term hire agreement combines the principal vehicle costs into a single monthly payment.
The package includes servicing, inspections, routine maintenance, emergency roadside support and road fund licensing. Manufacturer warranty protection covers the DAF chassis and the VDL equipment.
This approach gives Ellete Waste predictable vehicle costs without committing substantial capital to outright purchases. It also places vehicle maintenance and support with one supplier.
“Keeping everything under one roof with Mac’s makes the process so much easier,” said Sawrij.
“We’ve always got support when we need it, and that reliability, backed by their strong aftersales service, will keep us coming back.”
The new trucks will work from 7am until 5pm, five days per week. They will support skip hire services across Halifax and the surrounding area.
