The UK’s market leading truck manufacturer has taken the opportunity to thank to all of its drivers who have kept working through the ongoing pandemic.

DAF’s managing director, Laurence Drake admitted it had been a challenging year but, with the truck industry seen as one of the protected industries during the covid crisis, it – and it’s customers – had to keep going.

“We make sure that we can always be there for our customers, put them first and respond to their needs,” commented Drake.

During the lockdown, DAF rewarded drivers with complimentary hot drinks at truck stops up and down the country. It was a welcome gesture that the company is now repeating as we move into the festive period.

Ten truckstops have signed up to the DAF initiative to offer drivers a free hot drink and mince pie while they take a well-earned rest during 19th to 24th December. The truck stops are: Avon Lodge Truckstop, Avonmouth; Junction 29 Truckstop, Chesterfield; Lymm Truckwash; Roadking, Cannock (Hollies); Roadking, Holyhead; Chippenham Pitstop; Route 74 Truckstop, Lesmahagow; Ashford Truckstop; Junction 38 Truckstop, Orton and Lockerbie Lorry Park.

“We’re very fortunate to have the support and goodwill of the participating Truckstops,” said Phil Moon, DAF Trucks’ marketing manager. “We want to show our gratitude to the many thousands of drivers whose Christmases are always busy, but, this year, against the backdrop of the health emergency in the UK, their efforts are even more greatly appreciated.”
