Halifax-based family firm Collett Transport has taken ownership of an 8×4 Mercedes-Benz 4155 tractor unit with 205-tonne/m Effer 2055 crane – currently the largest of its kind in Europe.
The outfit offers a powerful weight-to-ratio performance and utilises six boom extensions to provide a maximum reach and lift capacity of 30,000 kg at 4.51 m, and 8550 kg at 15.25 m.
The hydraulic folding crane is based on a tractor unit with a maximum axle load of 16,500 kg and a gvw of 150 tonnes.
Working closely with local supplier Atlas Cranes UK Ltd, Collett said it commissioned the new Effer due to its strength and performance. It’s the largest machine of its kind – and the biggest project Atlas has so far undertaken.
“The welcome addition of the new Effer 2055 into our fleet allows Collett Transport to take a huge leap forward within the industry, offering unique lifting capabilities and providing customers with a cost-effective solution for their heavy-lift requirements,” said Collett & Sons Ltd MD, David Collett.
“The Effer 2055 crane is the very first crane of this capacity off the production line in Italy. Atlas Cranes is the recognised dealer in the UK for Effer, and as we have worked with it in the past, we were confident the acquisition of this machine would be the ideal addition to our fleet.
“We are delighted with the results,” Collett concluded.
