Construct IT has announced a partnership with Wienerberger to haul the company’s imported brick ranges throughout the UK via its new PD Ports site.

Teams from all three companies gathered at the newly designated Teesport location to mark the commencement of operations, overseeing the loading of the first shipment of bricks that arrived at the port.

Gavin Fraser, Contract Manager at PD Ports, said: “We’re pleased to welcome Wienerberger and Construct IT to Teesport and look forward to building on our already successful relationship.”

The bricks, produced at Wienerberger’s European factories and shipped to Teesport, are offloaded at the port and then transported onwards by Construct IT’s fleet, based in Middlesbrough and Chester Le Street.

Michael Clews, Logistics Operations Manager at Wienerberger, commented: “Operations from Teesport will be vital for our service offering to our customers for 2024 and beyond. The location of the port and its access to major local roads such as the A19, A66 and A1/A1M will reduce journey times on our imported products to the more northern parts of the United Kingdom. Not only will this mean a better service for our customers, but it will also reduce CO2 emissions as Construct IT can now be even more efficient with their operations on their dedicated fleet of vehicles”.

Amarat Gill, Operations Director at Construct IT said: “We are pleased to support Wienerberger with our haulage services from this new depot in Middlesbrough. Our main focus is ensuring we provide a safe and reliable service at all times, through our dedicated fleet of vehicles.”
