Dorset-based aggregates supplier M B Wilkes has taken delivery of its first Renault truck.

The company, which also trades building materials, ordered a C430 8×4 off road tipper.

Sparks Commercial Services supplied the vehicle, which will now be M B Wilkes’ flagship truck.

It joins a 16-strong tipper fleet at the aggregates supplier, covering Dorset and local areas.

The commercial manager at M B Wilkes, Dave Fletcher, explained the background to the deal.

“Over the past 12 years, we’ve been expanding the business, building up the fleet.

“In that time, we’ve gone from eight staff to 43.

“We’ve been using a competitor’s vehicle for many years but we liked the look of the C430 and its impressive cab.

“Also, we’ve also heard good things about their performance so we were convinced to give one a try.”

Continuing, Fletcher said the aggregates supplier wanted “a vehicle that really stands out”.

One of the goals is to raise awareness of M B Wilkes Ltd as a family business.

The new truck is a departure from others, being black and gold, instead of yellow and blue.

“We agreed to[change the colour] with the new Renault truck,” says Fletcher.

“It’s certainly turning heads and with the prominent branding it’s fantastic advertising for the business.”

The C430 is fitted with Renault Trucks’ Optidriver ATO 2612F automated gearbox.

Therefore, it allows the driver to perfectly regulate the speed whatever the terrain.

It is also packed with optional extras for driver comfort including a leather steering wheel with cruise and telephone control.

Meanwhile, drivers benefit from a heated seat and an electric interior windscreen sunblind.

Equipped with Thompsons tipper body, the eight wheeler also features a three-part steel bumper.

The bumper boasts with headlight grilles, step lighting, running lights and halogen headlights.
