FUSO has revealed the next generation eCanter model to the construction industry – and the world – at Bauma 2022.

The product range for the new truck offers more options and flexibility for operators.

For example, it is the first time that the eCanter features a roll-off tipper.

In addition, the next generation eCanter features three different battery packs, therefore offering driving ranges between 70 and 200km.

The Bauma trade show kicked off today in Munich and also features the standard Canter alongside the battery-powered version.

Available in five weight classes – from 3.5 to 8.55 tonnes – the next generation eCanter also boasts a mechanical PTO.

Other details on the specifications include a chassis load capacity of 5,135kg and a 3,635kg payload.

Meanwhile, inside there are upgrades to noise insulation and comfort in the cabin.

In single cab setup, the truck boasts a wheelbase of 3,400mm.

Previously, the electric truck offered the same wheelbase, however, it was only available as a 7.49 tonner.

Philipp Panter, head of sales, marketing and customer service at FUSO Europe, explained the upgrade.

“With our next generation eCanter, we are underlining the advantages for the construction industry.

“Thanks to their robustness and variability, the Next Generation eCanter and Canter are ideally suited to the sector.

Together with our body partners, we can realise a wide variety of applications in both vehicles.”

Meanwhile, Daniel Rauch, business unit manager for roll-off systems at UNSINN Fahrzeugtechnik, said he was “proud” to have played an important role.

“It is the first vehicle in its weight class in Europe with a roll-off system superstructure,” he explained.

“For us, the premiere represents an important milestone in the company’s history, because it is the first time we have supported a project in electric mobility.

“Also, it represents a major technological development step towards the future.”
