A multi-million pound investment by two Mercedes-Benz Truck dealers is progressing nicely.
Orwell Truck & Van and S&B Commercials have joined forces to build a £4m service and parts facility.
Building is currently underway at the spot alongside the A12 in Witham, Essex, between Chelmsford and Colchester.
The site is scheduled for completion by the end of 2021, says Motus (UK), owner of the two dealers.
When it is fully operational, the centre will be open around the clock, six days a week.
The 2,500ft2 building will boast a fully equipped workshop with nine full-length truck and trailer bays.
Two of the bays will have 22m-long pits and third will operate as an ATF on the multi-million pound operation.
In addition, truck wash facilities will be installed on the three-acre site.
Meanwhile, the parts department will carry ‘broader and deeper stocks’ of Mercedes-Benz parts than previously possible.
Over the counter sales will be possible as well as deliveries to operators and customers throughout the region.
Furthermore, S & B Commercials has invested £1.2 million in redeveloping its West Thurrock truck workshop.
It is hoped that the capacity at the new-look premises will boost capacity by 50%.
The MD of Orwell Truck & Van and S & B Commercials, Lee Seward, was delighted with the developments.
“The Witham project has been a long time in the planning,” he said.
“Given its fantastic location, the new aftersales centre is going to play a big part in our growth strategy.
Meanwhile, Mercedes-Benz Trucks UK MD, Wolfgang Theissen, was equally as enthusiastic.
