Tarmac has reached a major milestone with its smart card technology.

The cards have now been issued to more than 10,000 truck drivers as part of Tarmac’s fleet technologies.

As a result, haulier safety and training have been increased throughout the business.

The smart card is issued to drivers, supplied by software company Reference Point.

Specifically, the One Card digitally captures information and data about driver credentials.

In addition, it also handles information on training history and key qualifications such as CPC hours.

Furthermore, the smart card also ensures drivers are fully compliant with the relevant legislation.

In other words, it covers site safety checks, making the process more efficiency.

Furthermore, it helps improve the supply chain flow.

Finally, the smart card makes customers happier with the drivers’ performance.

The smart card technology was introduced by Tarmac in 2018.

Importantly, the smat card offers integrated fraud protection and identification technologies.

Phil Ramsden, OneCard project manager, logistics, reflected on the journey.

“We’re always looking for ways to boost safety and enhance productivity.

“Therefore, it’s impossible to imagine not having OneCard now.”

Ramsden said Tarmac had taken steps to improve the business.

For example, it had changed the way it manages driver compliance, engagement and training.

In addition, it made sure data was available within seconds.

“Our drivers also love the card. It saves the time completing paperwork and holding different licences.”

Meanwhile, Tanya Morris, director at Reference Point, stated Tarmac had shown great commitment with OneCard.

“I am delighted to see them reach this major milestone in cardholder numbers.

“I look forward to seeing what Tarmac will do next with the system.”
