A weekend aimed at shining a light on the world of logistics will take place between 29 October to 1 November.
The aim of the Discover Logistics Careers weekend is to help people realise the importance of the sector.
For example, considering how goods make it to shops or businesses.
In addition, how to ensure schools or hospitals have everything they need.
Furthermore, the event will highlight the the wide range of jobs that exist in the sector.
Shining a light on logistics will help people understand what the industry’s seven million employees do and why.
Also, the Discover Logistics Careers weekend will feature open days at UK businesses.
Therefore, these events will encourage people to consider working in the sector.
At the events, visitors will be able to find out more about logistics and the careers it offers.
They will also get the chance to apply for work experience or apprenticeships.
Businesses taking part include John Lewis Partnership, Wincanton and Aldi.
General manager of public policy at Logistics UK, Alex Veitch, is excited.
“Logistics is a fast-moving, modern industry offering a wealth of roles,” he said.
“From driving and warehouse co-ordination to office-based management roles.
“However, many people do not consider it as a career.
“Therefore, we are excited to welcome people into our members’ premises next weekend.
Meanwhile, Transport secretary Grant Shapps MP has also spoken about the weekend.
“There has never been a better time to consider a rewarding career in logistics,” he said.
“We’ll continue working with industry to encourage more people to kickstart their career in logistics.”
