Scania GB has confirmed the acquisition of Haydock Commercial Vehicles, a long-standing franchise partner operating six sites across the North West of England.
The strategic move strengthens Scania GB’s position across the region, adding sites in Warrington, Preston, Ellesmere Port, Widnes and Deeside to its existing portfolio. The acquisition follows the decision by Haydock’s owner, Simon Dykes, to step away from the business after more than two decades.
“It’s the end of an era for me,” said Dykes. “But I’m confident the legacy of Haydock will be secure in the hands of Chris and the Scania GB team. Ultimately, our customers are the real winners.”
Scania GB Managing Director Chris Newitt added: “Today marks a significant step in reinforcing our dealer and service network. Welcoming the Haydock team to Scania GB helps ensure our long-term commitment to UK operators.”
Strengthening Regional Support
Haydock Commercial Vehicles has been one of Scania’s key regional partners, employing over 400 staff across its network. The move means business operations will continue as normal, with staff and services remaining in place.
The only leadership changes will see Newitt take over as Chairman, while Scania GB’s CFO Andreas Ödebrink and Business Operations Director Emma Wilkins will join the board.
Over the coming months, integration work will focus on aligning systems and best practices across all locations. The aim is to ensure a smooth transition and deliver added value to Scania customers throughout the North West.
The acquisition reflects Scania’s ongoing strategy to retain strong local coverage while embedding national consistency across its wholly owned dealer network.
Scania GB, part of the global TRATON Group, operates in more than 100 countries and employs over 57,000 people worldwide. In the UK, the company supports fleets through 84 service centres and offers a full range of services including finance, insurance and vehicle rental.
The business also continues to invest in sustainable transport solutions. Scania was the first in its sector to have its Science Based Targets approved under the SBTi framework.
