Scania acquires TruckEast in a major move to consolidate its UK service and dealership operations. The deal will see the 17 TruckEast sites across the East of England brought into Scania GB’s wholly owned network.

TruckEast’s locations in Peterborough, Milton Keynes, Northampton, Bury St Edmunds and Norwich, among others, will now be operated directly by Scania Great Britain. The acquisition follows a similar deal earlier this year which saw Scania take over Haydock Commercial Vehicles in the North West.

TruckEast was one of Scania’s largest UK franchise partners. It has provided commercial vehicle servicing and support for over 18 years under the leadership of John Biggin. Speaking about the change, Biggin said:

“It’s a bittersweet moment. I will be saying goodbye to a business I cherish and the incredible colleagues who’ve made TruckEast what it is. But I leave proud of what we’ve built and confident in its future with Scania GB.”

A Focus on Continuity and Growth

Scania GB’s managing director Chris Newitt said the move reinforces the OEM’s dedication to its customer base across the UK.

“Today is a significant occasion. We are sustaining Scania’s UK dealer and service network for the future. I’m pleased to welcome our TruckEast colleagues to the Scania GB family.”

Operationally, TruckEast sites will continue business as usual. Changes will occur at board level, with Chris Newitt replacing John Biggin as Chairman. Scania GB CFO Andreas Ödebrink and Business Operations Director Emma Wilkins also join the board.

The newly acquired network will now work closely with Scania’s existing operations and with Haydock Commercial Vehicles to align systems and services.

TruckEast operated from 13 dealer points and four service locations across the eastern counties. The business supported HGVs, vans, passenger vehicles, and agricultural machinery. The acquisition ensures continuity for both customers and employees.

Scania GB is part of the TRATON Group and now directly oversees more of its UK footprint, which includes six wholly owned regions and five franchise partners. Sustainability remains central to the group’s operations, with Science Based Targets in place to drive decarbonisation across its portfolio.
