Total Group has added its first Renault T-Range trucks, bringing a new direction for the West Midlands operator. The company has taken two T480 6×2 tractor units supplied by Revival Solutions Group on a three-year term through Renault Truck Commercials. Each Renault T-Range unit carries a sleeper cab, mirror cameras, telematics and full ULEZ and DVS compliance. They are already moving reinforced steel products for HS2 and other large sites.
The order followed a two-week demonstrator loan that allowed the business to assess real performance. After that trial, the Renault T-Range stood out for fuel economy, pulling power and the data produced by RT OptiFleet.
Real-time data drives operational gains
Joe Law, Strategic Development Director at Total Group, said the switch reflects a focus on efficiency. He said Renault’s fuel performance and traction matched the demands of hauling heavy steel. He also highlighted the value of RT OptiFleet and the depth of analytics it provides for planning and driver improvements.
RT OptiFleet is Renault’s fleet management system. It supports decisions on routing, driver behaviour and maintenance planning. Total Group sees it as part of a wider strategy to cut emissions and improve efficiency across its transport operation. According to Joe, the trucks will operate from Wolverhampton and Cannock, handling reinforcement loads for major UK infrastructure work looking to reduce environmental impact.
He said sustainability sits at the heart of the company’s direction and pointed to ongoing investment aimed at cutting emissions. Real-time planning supports that aim by helping drivers make better route choices. He added that this move is the beginning, with further steps planned, including investment in electric vehicles.
Reinforcement specialist expands its capability
Total Group includes Total Construction Supplies (Processing) and Reinforcement Solutions Ltd. The business supplies reinforcement products for high-load and high-traffic environments such as slabs, logistics hubs, manufacturing plants and warehouses. It produces both bespoke and high-volume precast components designed for demanding conditions across the UK. Operations span advanced processing, accurate fabrication and controlled curing through high-tech finishing facilities.
Joe Laugharne, Transport Solutions Executive at Renault Truck Commercials, said the shift came after close work between both organisations. He noted it is the first time the business has selected Renault after previously using DAF and MAN.
Revival Solutions Group is supplying the trucks and supporting the new arrangement. It is also providing a T-Range tractor unit on spot hire to offer greater flexibility during peak periods or when quick turnaround deliveries are required across construction, defence and infrastructure clients.
