MAN has announced software upgrades and a new digital service for UK customers.
MAN Now is the first service from the manufacturer to offer over-the-air capabilities. The software upgrade aims to make drivers’ lives easier and enables them to be better connected with their vehicles.
The new system works in a similar way to smartphones, allowing users to add different elements to the platform.
Customers will be able to access new software without having to visit the workshop. All of the downloads and upgrades will done on the move, using mobile internet.
The first feature made available will be MAN OnlineTraffic, providing truck-specific traffic updates in real time.
Man OnlineTraffic will give advice and guidance on areas such as clearance heights, and maximum gross weights on bridges.
Fleet managers are being advised to log onto the online platform and equip all their MAN vehicles with the new software.
Although the technology has been developed with the latest model range in mind, older MANs can still benefit.
Retrofitting can be done at a workshop of the driver or operator’s choice to install the digital services.
MAN is promising more packages to be made available for MAN Now throughout 2021 as part of its ongoing software upgrades.
MAN MapUpdate, which features map upgrades and regional packages, will follow as well as other over-the-air solutions.
Other highlights to follow include software to help reduce fuel consumption, gearbox driving programmes or foreign language packs.
