The first Renault fleet additions have been made at M&M Kerr Limited, which has ordered three T520 High 6x2s.
Previously, the vehicles on the operator’s 12-strong fleet had historically come from a competitor manufacturer.
However, a change in direction was seen as a priority for the refrigerated haulage business.
The Renault fleet additions will be tasked with making meat deliveries across Europe, specifically in France and Belgium.
Therefore, the temperature-sensitive cargo needed to arrive in prime condition, so vehicle reliability was key.
The T520 Highs were selected following the successful introduction of two used Renault trucks.
These vehicles – a T480 and a T520 – arrived at M&M Kerr two years ago and really impressed, said director Mikey Kerr.
“I’ve always run a competitor manufacturer’s vehicles, however the vehicles from Mike Carr at Border Trucks have proved to be great workhorses.
“So, when Mike suggested we try the new T High for our latest replacement vehicles.
“The impressive specification and overall package on offer was too good a deal to turn down,” admitted Kerr.
All M&M Kerr drivers have an excellent knowledge of the collection and delivery locations throughout Europe.
As a result, ensuring they were happy was crucial, said Kerr.
“Our drivers are out for up to 12 days at a time, so it was so important that they were on board with the new trucks.
“To be honest, at the beginning, there was some initial scepticism about changing manufacturers.”
However, this was quickly overcome after getting behind the wheel of the T Highs.
“They have seen first-hand how great they are and now all the drivers want to drive them,” said Kerr.
“In fact, they have been both surprised and delighted by the vehicle’s performance and comfort.”
The trucks are powered by a 13-litre engine, mated to an Optidriver gearbox.
