Lymm Truckwash has received planning approval to expand its site by 50%, increasing capacity and creating local jobs. The move will add two new wash bays, taking the total to six.
The family-run business, now in its 58th year, is the largest of its kind in Europe. It already handles an average of 60,000 trucks annually and had passed the 22,000 mark by the end of April 2025 alone. The new expansion is scheduled to begin in early 2026, with the additional bays due to be operational by autumn.
Managing Director Laura Cardwell said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to move forward with this development. Demand during busy periods has been so high that we needed to improve our service by reducing costly downtime for our customers and enhancing road safety by removing queues from the road.”
More capacity, less queuing
The expansion is aimed at improving turnaround times for drivers and reducing queues on the surrounding roads. As well as faster service, the project will bring new jobs to the Warrington area and support local suppliers during the build.
“This investment is about supporting our customers and drivers, improving road safety and wait times, and creating more local jobs,” added Cardwell. “We’re proud to be a family-run business that continues to invest in the future of haulage.”
The upgraded site will also provide extra queuing space, reducing the knock-on impact for hauliers on tight delivery schedules.
Lymm Truckwash is also active in the trucking community. The company will attend this year’s Kelsall Steam Fair (21–22 June) and Truckfest Northwest in September. It has also launched a new joint venture with Bolesworth Castle. The Bolesworth event will run from 27 June to 6 July, showcasing super trucks and supercars over both weekends.
Anyone interested in displaying their vehicle at Bolesworth can contact Laura directly.
Lymm Truckwash is open Monday to Friday from 7am to 5pm, and on Saturdays from 7am to 11.30am.
