Gregory Distribution has expanded its fleet with ten custom Don-Bur rigid curtainsider bodies, mounted on 16-tonne Volvo FL cab chassis. These vehicles will be used in the company’s pallet network operation across Devon and Cornwall.

The challenging road infrastructure in the region required a tailored solution. In response, Don-Bur developed narrower rigid bodies with reinforced roofs. The roof design slopes upwards at the front, helping to deflect overhanging branches and preventing damage to corner cappings and headers. This innovation is expected to reduce maintenance downtime and improve fuel efficiency.

Enhanced Durability and Safety

The new Don-Bur rigid bodies comply with the EN 12642-XL load containment standard, ensuring secure transport. Each unit features a 2-tonne capacity cantilever tail-lift, providing versatility for different load types. Additional features include an anti-corrosion galvanised sub-chassis, internal strap stowage, and a Lee Lock system for secure pallet truck storage.

Daniel Challinor, Commercial Director at Don-Bur, highlighted the value of this partnership:
“Gregory Group’s ongoing confidence in Don-Bur speaks to our ability to deliver tailored solutions to meet exacting requirements. This project exemplifies our commitment to providing durable, efficient designs that enhance both vehicle performance and operational safety.”

The vehicles have also been finished in Gregory Group’s distinctive livery, printed using Don-Bur’s in-house UV technology. This advanced process enhances durability and ensures long-lasting colour vibrancy, reducing the need for frequent repainting.

Liam Dickinson, Head of Fleet-Technical at Gregory Group, commented:
“Don-Bur was a reassuring choice to provide a solution to our operational challenges. The new rigids are bespoke to our operations, and the quality of the builds meets our exacting standards.”
