Mercedes-Benz Trucks has put the eActros 600 on the map with a clean sweep from John O’Groats to Land’s End. The electric tractor unit covered 1,378km in little more than a day, stopping just three times to recharge. The feat sets a new marker for long-haul electric transport and keeps the spotlight on the shift to zero-emission operations.
The eActros 600 left John O’Groats on 3 December and arrived at Land’s End the following day. The three charging stops were at Stirling, Sandbach and Exeter. Average efficiency came in at 1.175km/kWh. The truck achieved a 510km range on a single charge and ran at 39.5 tonnes using only renewable electricity. Mercedes-Benz Trucks says the run saved 1.22kg of CO₂ per mile. The total saving reached 1,042kg, which it compares to the electricity-related CO₂ output of a typical UK home over three years.
Record run supports driver-focused charity
The team used the run to raise awareness for Globe Truckers UK, a charity focused on the physical and mental health of HGV drivers. A donation link was shared throughout the run.
Ali Colquhoun, who drove the first leg, said: “From the moment we left John O’Groats, the eActros 600 delivered steady power, smooth handling and the confidence we needed for a challenge like this.”
Nick Ford, PR & Communications Manager at Daimler Truck UK, added: “The eActros 600 was engineered to prove that zero-emission long-haul transport isn’t a distant goal but is happening now. This successful run shows that electric trucks can meet the demands of operators today.”
Globe Truckers UK CEO Andy Tustian said the run helped raise national awareness of the charity’s work supporting those in need across the HGV sector.
The eActros 600 holds the International Truck of the Year 2025 title and recently added the GREENFLEET Vehicle of the Year 2025 award. It delivers over 500km per charge, and MCS rapid charging can take its 600kWh battery from 20% to 80% in 25 minutes. Operators watching the march toward electric long haul will view this record as a sign that progress is coming quicker than expected.
