Turners (Soham) Ltd has received another DAF FTP 6×2, making it 1,000 three-axle tractor units for the operator.
The latest addition to the fleet is a XF450 FTP and forms part of an intake of 69 vehicles.
As a result, the Cambridgeshire company now has more than 2,000 vehicles on its fleet.
The three-axle tractor units make up a quarter of this number.
In fact, Turners is the the world’s largest operator of DAF’s lightweight FTP 6×2 mid-lift tractor unit.
Therefore, it has been hailed ‘the best six-wheeler on the market’, by Turners.
Those words came from Tim King, group fleet engineer at the operator, which is now “well-acquainted” with the FTP model.
King added that the three-axle tractor units helped when it came to “maximising our payload potential”.
“It’s very reliable and our drivers have always been more than pleased with the XF cab,” he revealed.
“On the whole, the latest New Generation XF cab has proved a big hit,” he added.
“And, it’s certainly a step-change over the previous model.”
Continuing, King praised the dealer support for the fleet Turners received from DAF.
“The R&M package and aftersales dealer support has been the ultimate key to our successful long-term relationship,” he stated.
Meanwhile, Turners’ DAF XF 450 FTG 6×2 tractor is powered by the 10.8-litre MX-11 engine.
Specifically, that provides 450hp and 2,350Nm of torque available from 900rpm.
There is plenty of advanced technology on board, such as DAF’s Digital Vision System.
In addition, the trucks have a passenger-side kerb view window and foldable passenger seat.
Together with the larger glass area and lower belt-line, these attributes enable the XF to achieve a three-star DVS rating.
The latest intake was delivered by Cambridgeshire- and Suffolk-based family-owned DAF dealer, Chassis Cab.
