ReFuels has opened a new Bio-CNG refuelling station in Livingston, West Lothian, strengthening low-emission infrastructure between Edinburgh and Glasgow.
The site, operated under the CNG Fuels brand, adds capacity for over 600 trucks daily and marks a significant expansion of ReFuels’ decarbonisation network for HGV operators across Scotland. Positioned near major distribution centres for Tesco, DHL, Aldi and Iceland, the station supports regional logistics operators in cutting transport emissions.
“The Livingston station is strategically located… and supports fleet operators in reducing emissions across Scotland,” said Philip Fjeld, CEO of ReFuels.
Scotland’s Growing Biomethane Network
This new Bio-CNG refuelling station is ReFuels’ second in Scotland. The company already operates the Bellshill facility, launched in 2021, off the M8. The Livingston location boosts the company’s UK-wide infrastructure, which now comprises 15 stations capable of refuelling over 10,500 HGVs daily.
At full capacity, Livingston will dispense 20 million kilograms of Bio-CNG per year. This can deliver significant carbon savings compared to diesel. Across the UK, CNG Fuels’ network has the potential to save over 1 million tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually.
With plans to double national refuelling capacity to 20,000 HGVs per day by 2028, ReFuels is advancing its long-term goal of becoming Europe’s leading alternative fuels provider for commercial fleets.
Bio-CNG is produced from renewable biomethane. It is a proven, scalable and cost-effective diesel alternative with established supply chains, vehicle compatibility and infrastructure.
“We continue to see growing demand for Bio-CNG trucks from both new and existing customers,” added Fjeld.
ReFuels owns 40% of CNG Fuels and plays a key role in delivering clean fuel solutions across the UK.
