Les Searle Group has significantly upgraded its maintenance operations by partnering with Totalkare to install advanced workshop equipment. This has enhanced the safety and reliability of its fleet, which includes excavators, dumper trucks, low-loader trailers, and bulldozers.
A central part of the upgrade is a robust 10-metre inspection pit made from high-grade prefabricated steel. Designed with a side-access tunnel, this pit ensures safe entry and exit for technicians while offering efficient maintenance through an integrated pit jack, oil drainer, and safety rails. This setup allows Les Searle’s maintenance team to work more effectively and safely on large vehicles.
In addition, Totalkare installed a suite of diagnostic tools. The TK70 brake tester, approved by the DVSA, is integrated in-ground and provides precise measurements of braking forces, allowing for quick identification and correction of issues. The installation also includes in-ground shaker plates, replicating road conditions to detect hidden suspension and steering faults. By addressing potential problems early, the plates extend vehicle component life and reduce the risk of unexpected breakdowns.
To further ensure fleet safety and compliance, a high-precision headlamp tester enables the accurate alignment of headlights, a common MOT fail-point. By providing optimal visibility, the headlamp tester supports road safety for drivers and other road users.
Les Searle, Managing Director of Les Searle Group, praised the upgrade as a crucial step toward providing reliable and efficient customer service, noting that the equipment directly contributes to reducing downtime and enhancing vehicle reliability. James Atkins, Totalkare’s Projects Manager, emphasised the project’s focus on seamless diagnostics and reducing operational disruptions, showcasing Totalkare’s commitment to tailored solutions for client needs.
This collaboration marks a step forward in Les Searle Group’s commitment to safety, compliance, and operational efficiency. It will help the firm maintain its fleet at top performance and ensure reliable service for its customers.
