The New Raven Cafe was taken over by the current owner three-and-a-half years ago. Already a popular destination for bike meets and car clubs, it is now also firmly established as a good quality truckstop, open 7 days per week.
The cafe offers three good breakfast options depending on your appetite, ranging from £7 to £12 with veggie and gluten-free options. Tea or coffee is included. For lunch, there are paninis, cold sandwiches and hot sandwiches, and omelettes, pies and jacket potatoes, ranging from £3 for a sandwich to £8 for an omelette (which includes chips and beans). On Sunday afternoons, the New Raven Cafe holds its weekly carvery, popular with locals and the previously mentioned bikers and car meet guys.
The standard carvery is £9.95 or £13.45 for two courses. Parking is available for up to 30 Trucks on site, with an average of 20+ units parked up per night. When it gets busy, there is a large pay and display parking area just over the road, which accepts HGVs, and The New Raven Cafe will still do drivers a deal for showers and evening meals. The washroom and shower facilities are excellent, and there is plenty of room with large cubicles to take all your gear in easily.
After hours there is a portaloo in the car park. On the same short stretch of road, there are two other cafés, a fish and chip shop, an Esso petrol station (no HGV pump) and a hotel so you will be able to find everything you need.
