The Glasgow-based Scania Day Shift Supervisor Scott McLintock has been named 2024 Scottish irtec Technician of the Year.
Scott said: “I can’t believe I’ve been named Scottish irtec Technician of the Year – it means so much to be recognised.
“For me, only one thing matters – my team’s progression. I love seeing the differences in people as they progress. Mentoring is my biggest passion. I love it – it’s the best part of the job when I see people progressing and learning how to do the job by themselves.”
Paul Smith, Dealer Director for Scania Scotland, said: “The team is incredibly proud of Scott. He is a real team player. He will help and teach anybody how to do something.
“His ability to mentor and help technicians with a variety of experience improve and get better is priceless. He is undoubtedly a shining example of the talent we have throughout the Scania UK network.”
Having joined Scania after 14 years working for a transport company, Scott was keen to progress his career. He developed his skills to mentor others and discovered a real love and passion for not just fixing heavy machinery but also passing that knowledge onto others, in particular, the next generation.
Lindsey Duncan, Branch Manager at Scania Glasgow, said: “Scott is an exceptional and talented technician and mentor. Nothing phases him and he does whatever it takes to see the job through with the customer constantly on his mind.
“His determination, team spirit, and passion are inspirational.”
Scott follows in the footsteps of fellow technicians Craig Moore and Steven Clark, who claimed the accolade in 2022 and 2023.
