The logistics business at W. H. Bowker has grown after the company acquired two Manchester-based firms.
Specifically, it has bought James Nuttall (Transport) and its MOT testing centre, Queensway Commercials.
The family-owned business is based in Rochdale, Greater Manchester.
As a result of the deal, the Bowker fleet is boosted by 48 vehicles.
In addition, the move helps grow the company’s infrastructure, with Queensway’s Authorised Testing Facility.
Commenting on the acquisition, W. H. Bowker Limited’s director, Bill Bowker paid tribute to the recently acquired company.
“James Nuttall (Transport) Limited is a successful family-owned business,” he stated.
“In addition, it shares the same cultural ethos as our own.”
Continuing, Bowker said he was keen to see the impact on the logistics business at Bowker and what opportunities lay ahead.
“We are extremely confident this exciting venture will strengthen our UK & European warehouse and distribution business.
“[The acquisition will] provide further opportunities for continued growth.”
Meanwhile, Jane Nuttall spoke on behalf of the Nuttall family.
“When we initially engaged with Bowker, it became very clear they shared the same values, culture and philosophy as ourselves,” she said.
In addition, James Nuttall stated: “Bowker has an excellent reputation within the industry.
“Therefore, it is renowned for looking after their staff, operating a modern fleet and providing continuous high levels of customer care.”
As a result, Nuttall said he was looking forward to “the new opportunities that the acquisition will present” to its employees.
W. H. Bowker Ltd is one of the UK largest private operators, specialising in chemical, pharmaceutical, and food grade logistics.
The acquisition means that Bowker’s UK and European fleet now comprises of more than 225 vehicles and 450 trailers.
In addition, the group now boasts more than 1.2 million ft2 of warehousing across 10 UK locations.
