Renault Trucks has launched its Optifuel Challenge rational driving competition to seek out
the best eco-drivers.
For this fifth edition, 2000 drivers from 25 countries are on the starting blocks. The best driver from each country will go forward to the international final due to take place in Lyon in October, in a bid to win the prize of a 2019 Range T High.
Created in 2012 and focusing solely on eco-driving, the Optifuel Challenge is run every two years. National selections will take place during spring and summer.
Each country will organise its own tests to select its top eco-driver.
These selections can be regional, followed by a national final. Or it can be a single event involving the best eco-drivers of the country. Or it can be an assessment and ranking of drivers according to their Ecoscore, the Optifleet function designed to individually assess good driving and truck use.
The 25 finalists first complete a questionnaire to test their knowledge of eco-driving. They then get behind the wheel of a T High 480 Maxispace truck fitted with a Fuel Eco+ pack, which will be provided for the competition.
