Scania has taken the wraps off an all-new G-series truck range to sit alongside its Next Generation R- and S-series models.
The Swedish manufacturer said G-series cabs are available with low, normal and high roof, initially in sleeper format, and the range is geared towards hauliers engaged in urban, inter-urban and multi-drop distribution.
The new G-cab features a lower, forward-positioned driver’s seat combined with a lower cab height for better visibility while maintaining a large sleeper cab to maximise storage and sleeping comfort.
The G-series cab has three entry steps and the driver’s station follows Scania’s modular concept, utilising a wing-style dashboard which slopes away to maximise forward visibility. Switches and infotainment systems have been positioned for easier operation.
The internal measurements of the normal ceiling have been increased by 10 cm, while in the Highline configuration internal headroom is now 16 cm higher than its previous G-series equivalent.
Scania said storage options have been significantly improved, due primarily to the new ceiling heights that allow for storage in both the front and back edges of the cab, even at the regular roof height. There’s also space for a bed with the potential for storage and a refrigerator underneath. A special tablet holder is also available for mounting on the instrument panel.
For added safety, G-Series cabs can be equipped with the Scania Night Lock – a robust, mechanically operated bar that makes it difficult for an intruder to open the cab without detection when the driver is resting.
